As local citizens, our governing board members have a responsibility to the students and the community at-large for providing a high quality choice in education for all youth who are unable to participate in the traditional school model.
Each member of our independently governed, non-profit charter school governing board contributes a depth of experience in areas such as education, business, finance, and community development. Each member is especially passionate about improving the lives of young people and helping establish them as confident, educated, skillful, and civic-minded citizens of their community.
August 22, 1925 – January 7, 2021
On behalf of the Office of School Governance, it is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Board member Raymond “Ray” Pompey on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Ray was a longtime Learn4Life advocate, Board member, and friend who served on both the Antelope Valley Learning Academy Board (May 2011 to present) and Assurance Learning Academy Board (June 2012 to present). Ray’s service as a Board member was instrumental in the growth and stability of the charters he served as well as in the success of Learn4Life. Our prayers go out to his family and friends. Ray served his community in numerous ways; one such way was to establish “Dictionary Project” targeting every 3rd grader in the Antelope Valley to own their very own dictionary. Over the next 10 years, Ray personally delivered over 35,000 dictionaries to as far away as Las Vegas. We are grateful for Raymond’s service.
